Whitewashed and serene, Borgo Gallana rises among centuries-old olive groves in the heart of Salento, the land between two seas where the Adriatic and Ionian lie just thirty minutes apart in either direction. Conceived by Barcelona-based architect Andrew Trotter, three independent stone houses embody Puglian simplicity and authenticity through vaulted ceilings that channel warm Mediterranean light. Cool cement floors inviting bare feet, and private courtyards complete with outdoor masonry bathtubs and kitchens for unhurried cooking in dappled shade. The communal garden — a curated ecosystem of native plants and ancient olives by landscape artist Lamia Santolina — embraces a tranquil pool and sun-drenched terraces, while the fluid boundary between interiors and open-air spaces creates a continuous dialogue between shelter and garden, stone and sky. Here, the rhythms of nature dictate the day, the choice of sea depends on weather and whim, and essential Puglian pleasures unfold with unforced grace.

Highlights
Barefoot Mornings — cool cement floors, arched windows framing silver olive trees, the unhurried ritual of Italian coffee in a private courtyard still shadowed from the night.
Stone bathtub Soaks — warm water, the scent of lemon blossom, cicadas beginning their evening rhythm as the last light turns the tufo walls the colour of honey.
Outdoor Kitchen Afternoons — hands working with fresh herbs and sun-ripened produce, the stone table slowly filling with dishes, conversation deepening as the olive canopy filters the day's retreating heat.
Choosing the Morning's Sea — Adriatic or Ionian, depending on wind and mood, returning sun-salted to the green quiet of the garden and the welcome coolness of the pool.
The Garden at Golden Hour — native grasses catching the light, ancient olives casting long shadows across the terraces, the Mediterranean ecosystem alive with colour and scent as the day slows to its natural close.
