Scattered across a sun-bleached hillside five kilometres from the ivory battlements of Ostuni, Borgo Silentio is a small constellation of three distinct properties — an 18th-century masseria, a Saracen trullo and a contemporary stone villa — united by shared countryside, shared silence and an unhurried sense of Apulian permanence. Centenarian olive trees and twisted almond groves stitch the grounds together, each house fenced within its own garden yet connected to the others by the same warm-limestone landscape and the same unhurried rhythms of the Valle d'Itria.

The three private pools, the colonnade draped with vines, the rooftop terrace built for dinners beneath the summer moon, the kitchen installed inside a deconsecrated chapel — these are not amenities assembled for convenience, but the accumulated textures of a place that has been lived in, restored with care, and offered whole to those who seek the particular quiet that only the Pugliese countryside provides. Add to this the concierge's readiness to arrange everything from beach access to truffle dinners, and it becomes clear that Borgo Silentio is a rare kind of retreat: ancient in its bones, impeccable in its finish, and resolutely itself.

The Signature
Highlights

  • Read the Wind, Pick a Sea — when the Adriatic is choppy, the Ionian is often calm; when the Ionian wind picks up, the east coast frequently lies flat: with the Adriatic ten minutes to the east and the Ionian coast under an hour to the west, two seas and one perfect day are always within reach.

  • Ostuni on the Doorstep — the White Town, with its labyrinthine medieval lanes, clifftop cathedral, ceramics vendors and evening passeggiata, sits just five kilometres from the estate.

  • Three Pools, Three Gardens — each villa comes with its own private pool and its own garden, the borgo shared in spirit but entirely independent in practice.

  • History That Can Be Felt — cool limestone underfoot, the faint roughness of hand-cut stone walls, a barrel vault overhead that turns every sound soft: the sensory life of a building two centuries old and entirely intact.

  • Under the Vines, After Sunset — the masseria's colonnade of vines, the trullo's covered porch, the villa's veranda: three houses, three outdoor tables, and the particular pleasure of a Puglian evening that begins with cooking together and ends long after the plates are cleared.

  • The Borgo's Silence — the estate takes its name honestly: fully fenced, set back from any road, surrounded by olive and almond groves, it is the kind of quiet that is increasingly rare in one of Italy's most visited regions, and the most compelling reason to stay.

  • Borgo Silentio is a private countryside estate near Ostuni, Puglia, comprising three independent holiday villas set within the Valle d'Itria, five kilometres from the historic white city centre.

  • Masseria Silentio is the principal property, an 18th-century farmhouse sleeping up to 8 guests across the main house and its independent Trullo Castelluccio, with three bedrooms and three bathrooms in total, including a master en-suite, while the five-cone stone trullo adds its own living room, kitchen, double bedroom and stone bathroom.

  • Masseria Silentio features a covered veranda dining room, a fireplace sitting room, a 120-square-metre rooftop terrace with dining and lounge areas, a patio with outdoor dining, and a vine-draped colonnade. Starting from 450€ per night.

  • Trullo Silentio is an 18th-century Saracen trullo of 100 square metres, sleeping up to 6 guests across two bedrooms with one bathroom, and featuring a 40-square-metre covered stone porch, a stone chimney, a barbecue, and an open-air shower. Starting from 350€ per night.

  • La Selvaggia is a newly built contemporary villa sleeping up to 4 guests across two bedrooms and two en-suite bathrooms, with an infinity pool overlooking the Ostuni countryside and a lounge with fireplace. Starting from 350€ per night.

  • Masseria Silentio and Trullo Silentio are neighbouring properties connected by a private gate and available to rent in combination; La Selvaggia is a separate and independent villa, 8 kilometres distant.

  • Each of the three villas has its own private outdoor swimming pool and independent, fully fenced garden ranging from 8,000 to 10,000 square metres, planted with olive, almond, fig and fruit trees.

  • All properties are fully equipped with air conditioning, fireplace, dishwasher, washing machine, BBQ, Wi-Fi and parking; bed linen and towels are included, and a housekeeper is available on request.

  • A 24-hour concierge service is available across the borgo for assistance with restaurant reservations, beach organisation and local excursions.

  • Ostuni's historic centre, beaches of the Natural Park of the Coastal Dunes, and the towns of Cisternino, Locorotondo, Alberobello and Martina Franca are all within 40 minutes by car.

  • Borgo Silentio sits between two coastlines: the Adriatic coast and its Blue Flag beaches are approximately 10 kilometres to the east (around 10 minutes by car), while the Ionian coast is under an hour to the west, offering two entirely different seas from the same address.

  • Brindisi airport is 35 kilometres from the estate (approximately 35 minutes by car); Bari airport is approximately 80 kilometres (one hour).

  • A car is required; there is no public transport serving the estate, and private parking is available at each property.
