Rising from a hillside deep in the folds of Le Marche — the unhurried Italian region between the Apennines and the Adriatic, and largely undiscovered by the wider world — Casa Olivi is a 300-year-old farmhouse where ancient stone and contemporary restraint have been brought into rare and convincing harmony.

The rough-cut walls and oak-beamed ceilings of the original building remain entirely intact, yet against them the interiors unfold in a language of polished concrete floors, white-rendered surfaces, and precisely chosen furniture, creating a cool, considered calm that feels at once entirely modern and wholly of the land.

Outdoors, a sleek infinity pool gazes out over vine-striped ridges and the distant silver thread of the sea, while more than forty olive trees — some older than the house itself — shade the terraces with the particular stillness of things that have simply always been there.

The Signature
Highlights

  • Italy's Most Authentic Region — Le Marche sits between the Apennines and the Adriatic, largely undiscovered and entirely itself. The hill towns, the truffle markets, the coastline, the opera festival — all of it still local, still genuine, still belonging to the people who live there.

  • The Pool and the Hills — the infinity edge gives onto open Marchigiano countryside with beautifully wide, unobstructed views.

  • The Terrace Kitchen — a Japanese stainless-steel barbecue under the pergola, twelve seats, open hills. The kind of setup where cooking together is as much the evening as the meal itself.

  • Chef Samuele — the house chef arrives on demand, bakes his own bread, stretches his own pasta, makes cheese by hand at the counter before dinner; available for a single lunch or the entire week.

  • Truffle Hunting — a two-hour drive leads to the woods of Acqualagna, a professional hunter, his dogs, and a lunch of fresh truffle on everything. Truffles can also be delivered directly to the villa.

  • Le Marche's Starred Chefs, All Within Reach — Michelin-starred restaurants such as Andreina in Loreto and Retroscena in Porto San Giorgio are within roughly an hour, while selected chefs and gourmet cooks can be arranged for private dinners at the villa through the house manager.

  • Casa Olivi is a 300-year-old stone farmhouse near the medieval hilltop town of Treia in Le Marche, central Italy, renovated by Swiss architects Markus Wespi and Jérôme de Meuron and featured in Elle Decoration, Madame Figaro, and Côté Sud.

  • The 450 m² villa accommodates up to 11 guests across five bedrooms: four en-suite rooms in the main house and one queen-size bedroom with shower and living room in a separate guest cottage.

  • Bedrooms are configured as follows: two king-size rooms on the second floor (one with freestanding bath and shower, one with shower), two rooms on the first floor (one triple with shower, one twin with shower), and one queen-size room in the guest house.

  • Interiors are furnished with pieces by Vitra, Cassina, Gandia Blasco, Philippe Starck, and custom designs by Wespi and de Meuron. Bedrooms are en-suite, and the villa includes air conditioning and a floor-cooling system.

  • The ground floor includes a double living room with fireplace and Bang & Olufsen Hi-Fi system, a home theatre, a professional ArcLinea stainless-steel kitchen, and a dining room for twelve.

  • The outdoor terrace features a sleek infinity pool overlooking the Marchigiano hills, a wooden pergola with a twelve-seat dining table, and a Japanese-style barbecue and grill.

  • The separate guest cottage includes its own living room with panoramic views extending to Monte Conero, a private bedroom, and a design pool table.

  • A fitness room equipped with a Technogym Kinesis wall and running machine is available within the villa; personal trainers, yoga coaches, and massage treatments can be arranged on request.

  • The Mediterranean garden contains over forty olive trees, several more than 300 years old, whose fruit is cold-pressed each October into the estate's own extra-virgin olive oil.

  • Private chef Samuele Frascarelli is available on request for any meal — from buffet breakfast to full Marchigiano tasting dinners — and culinary experiences including handmade pasta, pizza, cheese-making, and ice cream are offered at the villa.

  • Chef's table dinners with Michelin-starred chefs Errico Recanati (Andreina, Loreto, 1 star) and Richard Abou Zaki (Retroscena, Porto San Giorgio, 1 star), as well as gourmet chefs Michele Biagiola and Andrea Giuseppucci, are bookable through the house manager.

  • Macerata and its open-air Sferisterio Opera Festival are 20 minutes away; the Adriatic coast and Parco del Conero are reachable in one hour; boat excursions from Marina di Ancona can be arranged. Casa Olivi is 1 hour from Ancona.

  • Long weekend stays (4 days) possible in low season: €4.000

  • Photo shoots: € 2.000 per day
