Reached along a small road threading through garrigue at the edge of the Hameau de Fléchon, La Bastide de Fléchon is a meticulously restored 18th-century Provençal bastide where stone arched windows, exposed oak beams and walls finished in clay and lime compose an interior of considered elegance. The 350m² house sits on a hectare of landscaped gardens, where sentinel cypresses rise beside rows of centenarian olive trees and an overflow pool draws a still horizon line against the limestone ridges of the Alpilles park beyond. Interiors marry the weight of antique stone — limestone slabs from Les Baux, dark oak parquet, a massive fireplace — with the softness of upholstered sofas, kilim rugs and curtaining in Pierre Frey and Elitis linens, while a Falcon gas range and bronze travertine worktop establish the kitchen as a room for serious conviviality. Add to this a pool house dining for twelve, three distinct outdoor terraces, a daily breakfast of local pastries and seasonal produce, and a house manager on call, and it is clear that La Bastide de Fléchon has been conceived as a place for unhurried, deeply Provençal living.

The Signature
Highlights

  • Inside the Alpilles Park — the limestone ridgeline of the Alpilles regional natural park is not a distant view but an immediate presence, visible from the pool, the master suite and the garden, the garrigue audible from the terrace at dusk.

  • The Centenarian Olive Grove — rows of ancient olive trees planted at the foot of the hill frame the overflow pool from below, their silver canopies shifting with the wind against the rocky Alpilles backdrop, a landscape feature that no amount of garden design could replicate.

  • The Collected Interior — ancient amphorae beside the pool, a Hindu statue in the entrance hall, antique furniture sourced from flea markets, a spiral ironwork staircase and kilim rugs on limestone floors: this is a house assembled over time with a discerning eye, not dressed for rental.

  • The Master Suite — 74m² with a 200 x 200cm bed, a dressing room, a freestanding bathtub and a wide window that frames the olive grove and the Alpilles park beyond, the view shifting.

  • Maussane on Foot — one of the most quietly coveted villages in all of Provence, with its market, wine caves and sun-bleached restaurant terraces, sits ten minutes from the front gate without a car.

  • La Bastide de Fléchon is a restored 18th-century Provençal bastide of 350m² set on one hectare of landscaped grounds at the Hameau de Fléchon, near Maussane-les-Alpilles, within the Alpilles regional natural park.

  • The property accommodates up to eight adults and four children across five en-suite bedrooms: two double bedrooms on the ground floor with direct garden access, and three rooms on the first floor including a 74m² principal suite with dressing room and garden views.

  • The principal master suite measures 74m² and features a 200 x 200cm king bed, a dressing room, an open-plan 15m² bathroom with double sink, shower and toilet, and views over the garden and Alpilles park; a second master of 27m² offers a separate freestanding bathtub, dark oak parquet and east-facing park views.

  • The private heated outdoor pool measures 15 x 5m, is salt-treated and heated to up to 29°C from May to September, and is secured with an electric shutter.

  • The pool house provides a covered dining and cooking terrace for up to twelve, equipped with both gas and charcoal BBQs, a mini-fridge, Nespresso machine, outdoor shower and bathroom.

  • Two further outdoor dining areas seat ten and six guests respectively, and a dedicated pétanque court is installed in the grounds.

  • The 28m² kitchen is fully equipped with a Falcon gas range, wine fridge, natural stone countertops and bronze travertine worktop, and opens to a dining room with a solid oak table for twelve alongside the principal living room.

  • Services included are: a daily breakfast of local and seasonal produce, four hours of daily housekeeping, a house manager and concierge during office hours, weekly linen change, garden and pool maintenance, and a full welcome of kitchen essentials.

  • Domaine de Manville golf course is a 10-minute drive; Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is 20 minutes by car, Arles 30 minutes and Aix-en-Provence 50 minutes.

  • The property is 35km from Avignon TGV station (approximately 40 minutes) and 65km from Marseille Provence Airport (approximately 50 minutes); helicopter landing on the property is available.
