Nestling within a 7,000-square-metre park of century-old trees on the sunny northern shore of the Wörthersee, the Seeschlössl is a work of Fin-de-Siècle architecture — built in 1914 to the plans of Amadeo Marchetti, with oriel windows, turrets and terraces that give it an air of unhurried, aristocratic permanence. It embodies, more fully than almost anywhere in Carinthia, the Austrian ideal of Sommerfrische: that distinctly imperial pursuit of slow days at the water's edge, of green shade and still mornings and the quiet conviction that summer, here, need never be rushed. The interiors — arranged around a central hall in the English manner — are panelled, warm and full of the particular cosiness that only old houses possess, just as welcome in the grey afternoons that sometimes settle over the lake as in the brilliant weeks of July. Add to this a legendary breakfast served in the garden's dappled shadow, a private beach with its original wooden bathhouse still standing over the water, and the attentive discretion of the Bulfon family, and the Seeschlössl reveals itself as something genuinely rare: a heritage house where the atmosphere has remained wholly, timelessly itself.

Highlights
Breakfast Under Linden Trees — morning light filtering through ancient boughs onto a table of fresh-pressed juices, homemade jams, warm Kaisersemmeln and soft-boiled eggs, the lake just visible through the green of the garden, the day still unhurried and full of possibility.
Into the Water Before Anyone Else — the private shore in the early hour, the Wörthersee already warm from the days before — one of the warmest alpine lakes in Europe, reaching 25 degrees by midsummer.
Bathhouse Afternoons — planks warm from the morning sun, the faint creak of the structure over the water, turquoise light reflected onto the ceiling from below, the silence of the private shore broken only by the lap of small waves against the pilings.
The Atmosphere When It Rains — the sound of rain arriving on the lake surface, turning it from turquoise to hammered silver, the garden deepening to an almost impossible green, and the panelled rooms inside warm and lamp-lit. The kind of cosiness that only old houses and summer storms together can produce.
A Table with a History — the breakfast salon where Falco once took his coffee unhurried, where Bruno Kreisky read his newspaper in the morning light and Gunter Sachs prolonged his stay at the lake.

The Seeschlössl is a four-star heritage hotel garni in Velden am Wörthersee, Carinthia, open from 1 April to 31 October each year.
The property accommodates a maximum of 30 guests across its rooms and suites, all appointed with parquet floors, lake or garden views, and en-suite bathrooms; some suites feature mezzanine sleeping areas and sitting rooms in the original oriel towers.
The legendary breakfast — served for over 35 years and widely regarded as among the finest in the region — includes fresh-pressed juices, homemade jams, regional cheeses and warm baked goods, and is available to non-residents by prior arrangement.
A 7,000 m² private park of centenarian trees surrounds the property, extending down to 60 metres of private shoreline on the Wörthersee, with sun loungers and a preserved original wooden bathhouse set directly over the water.
A private boat mooring is available on request for guests arriving by water.
The Seeschlössl was designed by architect Amadeo Marchetti and built in 1914–1915, its English-plan interiors and Fin-de-Siècle exterior — with projecting bays, oriel windows and ornamental turrets — remaining largely intact.
The hotel is family-run by the Bulfon family, whose ancestors built the original structure, ensuring a standard of personal attentiveness characteristic of small heritage properties.
The Wörthersee is home to numerous acclaimed restaurants — among the finest in Carinthia — several of which are easily reachable by boat taxi directly from the Seeschlössl's private pier, making dinner on the lake a natural extension of an evening at the house.
Free bicycles, complimentary private parking and free Wi-Fi are included for all guests.
The centre of Velden am Wörthersee, including Casino Velden, restaurants and the Strandbad public beach, is approximately 10 minutes on foot.
Golfclub Velden-Köstenberg is within easy driving distance, and Klagenfurt Airport lies 26 km from the property.
