To sit in hot water beneath an open Arctic sky, the cold on one's face and the Northern Lights moving overhead, is the sort of thing one travels a long way for, and at SkyView it happens on a private terrace a few steps from the bed. Turned north on the wooded hill of Ollerovaara, ten minutes above Rovaniemi, each igloo is arranged over two storeys: a lounge and kitchen among the pines below, and above them a glass-domed bedroom, a Finnish sauna lined in pale aspen, and an open-air jacuzzi on the terrace. A restaurant and Arctic spa arrive in October 2026, after which little on the hill will remain to be wished for.
