Set on a gentle hillside above Višnjan, surrounded by ancient olives, slim cypresses and the orderly rows of some of Istria's finest vineyards, The Baratina Houses are two neighbouring stone villas of real character and warmth, combining private pools, generous walled gardens and beautifully considered interiors to create an atmosphere of deep, unhurried contentment. The Adriatic lies just twenty minutes away, close enough for an afternoon on the water, yet the pull of this landscape — its warm stone, its still air, its long golden evenings — makes leaving feel, most days, like an afterthought.

Highlights
Barefoot All Day — stone floors, terrace, garden, pool, back again — no shoes required from morning to evening.
Pool Days — the 32-square-metre pool, ten sun loungers, cold drinks within reach, a full day that asks nothing more than that.
A House with Personality — framed family photographs on the walls, personal favorite objects on the shelves, a host's home that happens to be available, and the particular warmth that no interior designer can replicate.
Quiet Hills, Poreč at Dinner — the property sits deep enough in the Istrian interior for genuine stillness, yet Poreč, Višnjan and the restaurants of the surrounding wine country are all within twenty minutes by car.
Dinner under the Pergola — the grill lit, cicadas in the surrounding olive trees, wine poured, the group settled in for the kind of dinner that takes several hours.
Four Paws Welcome — this villa makes a dog-friendly holiday genuinely possible, with a fully fenced garden to roam freely and just one rule: the pool is for humans only.

The Baratina Houses comprise two independent stone villas near Višnjan in central Istria, Croatia, each sleeping up to nine guests across four double bedrooms and a sofa bed.
The two villas share a hillside setting and can be rented independently or together, accommodating up to eighteen guests in total.
Each villa measures approximately 165 square metres and offers a private outdoor pool of 32 square metres, ten sun loungers, a covered terrace, a grill area and an enclosed garden with parking for three vehicles.
Each interior features four double bedrooms, four bathrooms with a combination of showers and bathtubs, a wood-burning fireplace, air conditioning and WiFi throughout.
Both kitchens are fully equipped with dishwasher, coffee machine, washing machine and fridge-freezer; one villa also has partial underfloor heating.
The Adriatic coastline at Poreč lies approximately 13–15 kilometres from the villas; Pula airport is 56 kilometres away.
Višnjan, with its astronomical observatory, restaurants and local food shops, is 2–3 kilometres from both properties.
One well-behaved pet is welcome at each villa.
The two villas are neighbouring properties and can be booked independently or together; groups of up to eighteen should confirm combined availability in advance.
A car is essential: the coast, restaurants and wine estates in the surrounding hills are all most comfortably reached by road.
One villa includes a highchair and travel cot, making it the more suitable choice for families with very young children
The nearest beach is a pebble shore approximately 11–13 kilometres away; sandy beaches further along the coast require a slightly longer drive.
Both properties are non-smoking inside, and all utility costs are included in the rental price.
