Rising from the crest of a hill within a vast Umbrian estate, Villa Torre is a three-bedroom villa rebuilt on the ruins of a medieval defensive watchtower. Its ivy-clad stone rising above a deep, olive-threaded valley with a stillness that seems to belong to another century. The panoramas that unfold from every level of the property — across rippling woodland, century-old olive groves and the distant ridgeline of Monte Tezio — are among the most arresting in all of Umbria, and the infinity pool, set against this landscape, dissolves at the horizon as if the water and the valley were one. Warm, carefully furnished interiors — exposed timber beams, a stone fireplace, antique textiles, linen of the finest cotton — give the villa the unhurried character of an Italian family home, while the roof terrace atop the tower offers a commanding vantage point from dawn to nightfall. Villa Torre reveals itself as a retreat of quiet distinction in the green heart of Italy.

The Signature
Highlights

  • The Particular Freedom of a Private Estate — no shared spaces, no other guests visible, the grounds extending far beyond what can be used, the sense of having claimed a small piece of Umbria entirely for oneself.

  • Roof Terrace Evenings — two chairs, a glass of Umbrian wine, the whole arc of the estate spread below in amber and ochre.

  • Breakfast on the Terrace — wicker chairs, warm pastries, the hills changing colour as the sun lifts, the silence broken only by birdsong from the olive grove below.

  • A Morning at the Golf Course — three kilometers from the door, the Antognolla course cutting through the Umbrian hills, the castle visible from the fairway, the estate waiting quietly on its hill above.

  • Unstructured Time — no programme, no schedule, no obligation beyond dinner at Il Caldaro if desired, the estate asking nothing and offering everything it has.

  • Villa Torre is a restored medieval watchtower villa set within the Tenuta di Murlo estate in northern Umbria, 20 km from Perugia and 15 km from Lake Trasimeno.

  • The villa sleeps up to 8 guests across three en-suite bedrooms: two super-king rooms (2 m x 2 m) on the ground and second floors, and a bunk-bed room sleeping four children on the first floor.

  • The ground-floor super-king bedroom has a built-in bathtub with shower and direct exterior access to the gardens.

  • The second-floor super-king bedroom has a built-in bathtub with shower and direct access to the panoramic roof terrace.

  • The private infinity pool measures 15 x 6 m (1.5 m deep), features a whirlpool system on the pool stairs, and can be heated on request with a thermal cover available.

  • An always-heated outdoor jacuzzi (2 x 2 m) sits beside the pool, directly overlooking the valley.

  • Outdoor amenities include a pergola with dining table for 8, sun loungers, a barbecue area, a firepit and a fireplace within the sitting room.

  • The panoramic roof terrace crowns the top of the tower, accessible from the second-floor bedroom, with uninterrupted views across the Umbrian hills.

  • The estate's restaurant Il Caldaro — serving traditional Umbrian cuisine with estate-grown ingredients — offers a complimentary shuttle service for dinner by prior arrangement.

  • The Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed 18-hole Antognolla Golf Course is approximately 3 km from the villa.

  • Perugia is 20 minutes by car; Assisi is approximately 45 minutes; Gubbio, Spoleto and Lake Trasimeno are each within one hour.
